Books

These are the books I'm currently working on.  Some are completely outlined and just need to be written, and some I've barely thought about.  For my benefit as well as yours, they're all going to be listed here.  More will be added as I come up with/rediscover/remember them.

Shadow Walkers

Status: Rethinking life
Genre: Modern Fantasy
Chapters: 3
Pages: 23
Words: 5,471

Synopsis:

Hale Thompson lives a normal life: avoiding bullies, struggling to do his homework, and trying to find new friends as he enters his freshman year in high school.  However, all of this changes rather quickly when he is paired with the mysterious Jenny during Chemistry.  Weird things begin to happen. Finally, as he is bullied by a particularly nasty young gentleman one fateful day, a burst of rage accompanied by an explosion of black energy levels the hallway.  For some reason, everyone writes it off as a water pressure issue and the incident is soon forgotten.
Hale doesn't forget.  He knows there's something different about him, and he know his lab partner Jenny knows something about it.  He won't stop until he gets answers.  Except the truth might be a bit more than he bargained for...
Filled with huge conspiracies, betrayals stacked on treachery, and probably at least one assassin, this may be my most action-y book yet.

The World of Terragonna

Champion of Light Series

Status: Writing Book One (This one's my brain child)
Genre: Epic Fantasy
Chapters: I lost count.  Seriously, I don't even number the chapters anymore.
Pages: 217
Words: 51,900

Synopsis:

Horace is a fifteen-year-old boy living to the far west of Terragonna, close to the edge of the map.  His home town, Greggon, does what it can to scrape by and manages to live through each year without too much tragedy.
     Things, however, change.
When monstrous Shrieks begin to appear in the forests, people begin to worry, but no one expected the carnage that followed.  On the night of the Harvest Festival, a massive horde of Shrieks, led by a mysterious sorcerer named Crealis and a dark dragon, ransack Greggon and burn it to the ground, slaughtering everyone in sight.  Only Horace and the village's quirky mayor, Ser, live.  The horde continues to move east, towards the royal city of Raconda.
Determined to stop the bloodshed, Ser moves quickly, dragging Horace towards Raconda to warn the city of the impending disaster.  Priorities change, however, when Horace, while taking shelter in a ruin smack in the middle of the mysterious Ancient Lands, inherits the power to wield a powerful weapon of light.  Now, Horace finds himself the hero that holds the fate of Terragonna in his hands.  Will he stop the rampaging sorcerer from conquering Raconda?  Or will Crealis succeed in unleashing a dark, forgotten evil on the land?

The above is an outline of the first book in the three-part series

Into the Void

Status: Waiting on finishing Champion of Light, Brainstorming
Genre: Fantasy
Chapters: 0
Pages: 2
Words: 343

Synopsis:

Sequel to Champion of Light series.
Darrin traveled for years with Horace, the Guardian of Light that saved Terragonna.  He helped push back the shadows.  He watched the fall of the Darkness.  But nothing could have prepared him for this.
Months have passed since the defeat of the darkness, but dark wizards and evil creatures still pour from the Void in increasing numbers, showing some semblance of organization.  Who could possibly be in charge?
Partially to find answers, and partially to prove himself to a disapproving Council of Lords, Darrin sets out with Horace, the Bearer of Light, and Zack, the Elf-Friend, into a dangerous trip into the Void, chasing an enemy they're not even sure exists.  Secrets mound up, suspicions fly, followed by a startling betrayal that leads to the capture of the great hero of Terragonna, Horace.  With no one else to turn to, can Darrin save his friend, and all of Terragonna?

This will probably be a single book.

Links of the Past series

Set around 6,000 years before the events of Champion of Light, this series will loosely tie into the main series and set the scene for events to come

Status: Writing, some outlining still needed
Genre: Fantasy
Chapters: Two
Pages: 23
Words: 5,800

Synopsis:

Shrrn is a young elf living in ancient Terragonna.  Misunderstood by his parents because of his unnatural powers, Shrrn is sent to live at the School of Magic and Advanced Unusual Talents, where he meets Melrac, an elf with a similar past.  The two quickly become friends and aspire to join the School as full-fledged students some day.
A task easier said then done.  Before they can enroll in the School, the roommates are assigned to test themselves in a deadly serious game.  To win, all Shrrn and Melrac have to do is gather four crystal batons into their home base, while three other teams fight to do the same.  As the game progresses, alliances rise and fall, traitors are discovered, and friendships are made and broken.  Shrrn and Melrac find themselves fighting for not their futures, but their very lives as the "game" spirals further and further into absolute chaos.

This will be a series of four to five shorter books.  The above is an outline of the first book.

Kyra

Set sometime before the events of Champion of Light, this book will probably not tie in much with the rest of the series.

Status: Brainstorming, trying to find the right way to start the book
Genre: Fantasy
Chapters: A few demo chapters to find a good beginning
Pages: About 11.  Not all of them are usable
Words: 2,386

Synopsis:

Kyra never asked for the life she now lives.
Years ago, the elves of the Western Wood fought off a desperate attack by a horde of Shrieks and barely won, sacrificing many lives to protect the woods they call home.  As the Queen, Arnya, walks the woods one day after the war, a lone, shrill cry reaches her.  Queen Arnya turns over a discarded shield to discover an infant Shriek, abandoned, helpless, and alone, in the middle of the battlefield.  Overcome with compassion, as the story goes, the Queen takes the young Shriek home and raises it as her own child.
     That Shriek is Kyra.
Needless to say, the elves of the Wood are not happy to have a princess Shriek in the palace.  When the palace's trusty advisor, Vraal, warns Kyra of a future attempt on her life, Kyra is forced to abandoned the life she knows and run.

Post-Apacolyptic World

AI—Burn

Status: Outlining and some writing
Genre: Post-Apacolyptic, Sci-Fi
Chapters: 3
Pages: 27
Words: 6,590

Synopsis:

Anthony Starlock lives a relatively comfortable life with his Uncle Ricardo in the long-destroyed continent of Europe.  He passes his time scavenging for spare parts in the dusty desert surrounding his community and helping his uncle fix up old machines, from ancient Model T's to post-modern Hoverboards.  They make a comfortable life together, and Anthony is content.
Outside of his little town, however, a war rages between the East and the West, and Europe is destined to be the battleground.  A group of Type T battle androids, terrible robots that leak nuclear radiation into their surroundings, attack the town, easily destroying what little defense the villagers can mount.  The last thing Anthony remembers is turning a corner and being overcome with an awful burning sensation as a Type T roasts him with radiation.
Anthony lives, however, thanks to the efforts of a strange Resistance that rescues him from the ruins of his town.  Ethan Joklar, a renegade soldier from the East, and Rachel Thale, the daughter of a prominent Western politician, nurse Anthony back to health and offer him asylum in their base until he heals.  Anthony, horribly scarred by radiation poisoning, must work with the Resistance to answer his questions.  Who sent the T's that destroyed his town?  What purpose did the attack serve?  Who is the real mastermind behind the war?

This book may develop into a series.  I'm not sure yet.

Night and Day (working title)

Status: Writing, currently not active

Pages: 53
Words: 13,933

Travis, alias Nocturne, is a notorious, intergalactic bounty hunter/vigilante that tries, but often fails, to side with the law and take out key leaders of the black market that has a chokehold on the intergalactic economy.  When the J-Dept (Justice Department) gives him a call and hires him to protect an officer, a Dr. Lech stationed on Earth to help calm the ever-present wars there, Nocturne is more than happy to help, given that the price is right.
Rune, alias Rgaatornn, is a mysterious figure that haunts the criminal world, striking his targets in the deepest blackness and leaving without a trace.  Despite his reputation as a ruthless killer and all-around boogeyman, he does have his own set of morals, and lately he's had his suspicions about a certain Dr. Lech that is trying to "help" calm the Earth wars.  When a black market supergiant hires Rgaatornn to "take care" of Lech, Rgaatornn sees it as a perfect opportunity to investigate the shady official.
When these two armored hunters meet, sparks, plasma, and missiles fly.  Before their battle can fully commence, however, they are attacked by a squadron of aircraft.  After exchanging stories, the two grudgingly decide that the matter merits further investigation.
Neither of them could possibly guess how deep the corruption runs, or how over their heads they were getting.  When push comes to shove, can two of the galactic underworld's greatest tyrants unravel this mystery and live?
